27th Summer Leadership Program07/18/2010 - 6:35pm 07/23/2010 - 6:35pm Etc/GMT-4 Description: Location: Lion's Camp Pride in New Durham We bring high school students together from across the state for a week of experiential activities designed to help them explore their values, relationships and coping strategies, and connect with their own inner strength while connecting with other young people. Throughout the week, we also offer mini-workshops which are designed to provide current and accurate information on specific topics relevant to teens such as stress and time management, alcohol and drug misuse, dating violence, reproductive health, suicide prevention and so forth. (Creative Arts At Kene) encourages campers to explore new ways to express themselves through their interest in the arts. Campers select their own classes from a long list ranging from creative writing to costuming. The last week of camp is a celebration of the visual and performing arts. Campers will display their visual art creations in an art exhibit. Performances will be presented at the Colonial Theatre and the MoCo Blackbox Theatre. African American Folktales07/22/2010 - 12:34pm Etc/GMT-4 Description: Stories from the Heart: African American Folktales & Slave Narratives Using readings, traditional and digital storytelling, research, and writing participants will learn to tell a story and create an electronic version of their oral story. Participants will learn some minimal editing using MovieMaker and Audacity. Painting Group07/22/2010 - 1:46pm Etc/GMT-4 Description:
For many decades, artists living in There is no formal instruction at group meetings. Artists simply learn from one another by observing and asking questions when they see something that interests them. The Keene Public Library along with the Monadnock Area Artists Association has a painting group meeting every Thursday morning from 10:00 to noon. The program is open to the public with no fees or admission. One simply needs to provide ones own art materials. The group meets in Heberton Hall next to the Library and is a wonderful place to paint. No advance notice is required. Just show up, meet some fellow artists, new friends, and enjoy yourself. |
